Dexter Hutchings - Marketing Manager
"If not now, then when?"
That’s the motto I live by—an ambitious go-getter with a sometimes impulsive streak. My Icarus-inspired tattoo is a daily reminder to balance passion with prudence. When I’m not flying too close to the sun, I’m hiking with my partner, cooking, or watching Chelsea FC (it’s just a game… so they say).

Personal values
Diverse thought - I see the world differently—sometimes to my frustration, as I struggle to understand why others don’t see what I do. But that’s exactly why I crave diversity—different people bring unique perspectives, which spark fresh ideas and better ways of doing things.
Work ethic & persistence - I respect people who show up and get sh*t done. Intelligence and experience matter, but nothing beats someone who pushes through challenges, strives for better, and gives 100%. "The most certain way to succeed is always to try just one more time."
Respect - Great ideas can come from anywhere, regardless of experience, title, or background. I believe the best teams create an environment where every voice is heard and valued. Respect isn’t about hierarchy—it’s about recognising effort, expertise, and the willingness to challenge the status quo.
Authentic connection - Passion and humour make life (and work) better. Workplaces thrive when people genuinely enjoy what they do and who they do it with. People shouldn’t have to bring a filtered version of themselves to work—not here at Mindset.
Curiosity - Always ask why—even if it annoys people.
No busywork - I hate work for the sake of work. Work should be meaningful. I believe in focusing on what drives real results, not just keeping busy.
Achilles heels
I'm very opinionated - I disagree a lot. Not because I don’t respect other opinions, but because I see things differently and will always voice my perspective. Mindset’s motto is "strong opinions, held loosely"—I love that.
Terrible delivery - Having strong opinions is great. Having tact… still working on that. I can be blunt, and I get frustrated when people don’t see my point. It’s never my intention to offend—if I do, call me out.
Active listening - My brain is always ticking, which means sometimes I’m thinking about my response before the other person has finished speaking. I’m working on it.
How to get the best out of me
Give me freedom - I’m not a task bunny. Tell me the goal, not how to get there—I like figuring that part out.
Bring me problems - I love problems. Seriously. Throw me a challenge, and I’ll obsess over finding the best solution.
No "we’ve always done it this way" - I hate doing things just because "that’s the way it’s always been done" or because some marketer elsewhere is getting good results with it. There’s no universal playbook—I’ll experiment, but I won’t blindly copy.
Respect my time & the team’s time - Marketing is a strategic function, not a dumping ground for menial tasks. We’re analysts, researchers, creatives, salespeople, designers, writers, and more—often all at once. We can’t do everything, and we won’t say yes to everything. We need the space to focus on high-impact work and be accountable for our time. If we’re not in control of our workload, we can’t be responsible for the results.
