Roxann Federici - Product Owner

"Without data, you’re just another person with an opinion."

Hi, I'm Roxann, I'm the person with the data - and lots of opinions!

Just like everything becomes crab (look it up) I find everything eventually becomes a spreadsheet. If you're lucky, the spreadsheet will even turn into a lovely graph - going to the right and up.

I'm obsessed with people, music and data insights.

I found my way into tech through my experience in community building, marketing and events. I am infinitely curious about human behaviour. I love exploring what makes people tick and getting to know what they truly care about. In the realm of product, some may call this the 'Discovery Process'.

In my spare time, I love diving down rabbit holes of niche online communities, digging for music or trying to make music. I say trying, because I find most music software could definitely do with an agent embedded into it.

Roles

Personal Values

  • Authenticity - the average person spends 29,600 days on this Earth. I do not want to spend even 1 of them not being true to myself. I believe everyone deserves to embrace and express who they are.

  • No bullsh*t - Say what you mean and mean what you say. When innovating, time is of the essence, so why spend it reading between the lines or going back on your words? Nobody has the time to decipher half-truths and vague answers. Open, honest and direct is the most efficient way forward.

  • Curiosity - It's cool to care! I always have a million questions because I need to know WHY and don't feel comfortable until I really get to grips with the detail.

  • Growth mindset - I hate feeling stuck doing the same thing. I want to keep learning new things and evolving as a person. With the right attitude and dedication, most people can pick up any skill.

Achilles heels

  • I have a lot to say - I'm a bit of a chatterbox, and the stand-ups I run often go on for way too long.

  • 9am meetings - I'm a night owl, a late night deep work session is when I thrive.

How to get the best out of me

  • No micromanagement - this is a big one. Micromanagement is a killer for both efficiency and creativity. It shows a lack of trust - and why hire someone you cannot trust? Let me know your goal - then let me do my thing.

  • Make your expectations clear - let's eliminate the guesswork. If there's an urgent deadline or a specific criteria, make it known.

  • Valuable work only - I hate being given tasks that offer no value. Staying busy for the sake of it is inefficient - and totally pointless!
