Release Management Team

Mandate

The Release Management team is responsible for ensuring that software releases are well-coordinated, communicated, and aligned with business objectives. This includes verifying that all required elements of a release are complete, providing transparency on release contents, and facilitating communication between engineering, customer support, product marketing, and the wider business. The team also ensures that the impact of each release is understood and effectively communicated across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Release Readiness Verification – Ensure that all required components of an Epic are complete before a release is finalized.

  • Internal Communication & Documentation – Provide clear, structured updates on release contents to internal stakeholders, including engineering, product, and leadership teams.

  • Customer-Facing Communication Enablement – Work closely with customer success (CS) and product marketing teams to ensure external messaging about releases is accurate and effective.

  • Progress Updates & Visibility – Offer high-level updates on work progress across the entire software development function, ensuring alignment with business expectations.

  • Knowledge Sharing & Business Enablement – Collaborate with business teams to improve understanding of product changes and enable internal teams to leverage new features effectively.

  • Impact Assessment & Communication – Identify and communicate the potential impact of releases on the platform, including performance, stability, and user experience considerations.

  • Collaboration with Engineering Teams – Work closely with development and QA teams to ensure a smooth and predictable release process.

  • Continuous Improvement – Refine release management processes to improve efficiency, reduce friction, and enhance communication across teams.

Cadence

  • Biweekly Release Management Sync (Every Two Weeks) – A recurring meeting to align on release readiness, review progress, and discuss communication strategies.

  • Cross-Functional Check-ins – Ad hoc meetings with engineering, CS, and product marketing teams to coordinate on upcoming releases.

  • Retrospective Sessions – Periodic reviews to assess the effectiveness of release processes and identify areas for improvement.
